Depth explorer
The story of a well, layer by layer
Scroll down with the drill string.
Depth 1/6
Alluvium and topsoil
Loose, saturated units in the first metres; advanced with casing against collapse.
Depth 2/6
Sand and gravel
Permeable layers hosting shallow aquifers; mud programme and screen design are decisive here.
Depth 3/6
Clay and marl
Units prone to swelling and squeezing; geotechnical samples and SPT data matter most here.
Depth 4/6
Limestone
Karstic voids and losses; fast progress with DTH and loss management.
Depth 5/6
Aquifer
The target water-bearing zone: electrical logs set screen levels, pumping tests confirm yield.
Depth 6/6
Bedrock
Diamond core drilling in granite and metamorphic rock; core recovery and RQD recorded.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which permits are needed to drill a water well?
Groundwater wells require an exploration permit from DSİ and a usage permit after completion. We prepare the technical reports and site records.
How is well depth determined?
By hydrogeological assessment of aquifer depth, neighbouring well data and required yield; it is confirmed by the well log during drilling.
How many boreholes are needed for a site investigation?
Number and depth depend on footprint, storeys and site geology under the regulations. We set the programme with the design engineer.
Why does core recovery matter?
Core recovery shows how well the sample represents the formation. Low recovery means uncertainty in resource models and ground parameters.
How long does it take to prepare a quote?
With complete site information, a preliminary quote usually takes one business day; jobs that need a site visit are quoted after the survey.
